#171 LTLT S5 EP 45: Genesis 3:17-24; The Curse of Disobedience and Its Impact on Our Lives
Unlock the profound mysteries behind one of humanity’s most significant moments in history: Adam's disobedience and the subsequent curse. How does this ancient story resonate in our lives today, and what can it teach us about our personal struggles and the importance of staying connected to divine guidance and strength? Join me, Catherine, your host and pastor at Exposed Life Change Ministries, as we journey through Genesis 3:17-24. Together, we'll explore how spiritual separation has transformed ease into toil, and how reflecting on our own disobedience might reveal unnecessary challenges we've imposed upon ourselves.
As we wrap up today’s insightful exploration, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your engagement and presence. Anticipate tomorrow's continuation with Genesis chapter four, where themes of the first murder, jealousy, and envy will unfold before us, promising lessons just as relevant now as they were then. Feel the love and blessings sent your way, and prepare for another enlightening session that aims to bring clarity and understanding. Looking forward to our next gathering. May your day and night be filled with peace and revelation. Amen.

Speaker 1:Tell somebody else about this Broadcast Amen. Very somebody else about this broadcast Amen, about this very special network. I call it God's Diamond Network Because we're all diamonds in His sight. Amen, all valuable, all beautiful. Amen. He brings us clarity, he gives us definition, he gives us that flawlessness. He gives us that thing, amen, that makes us one of a kind Hallelujah, made totally by him.
Speaker 1:So, without further ado, we're getting ready to get into his word. So let's go, let's pray. Father, we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy. Thank you, god, for allowing us yet another again to be able to get into your word. I pray that today has been a good day for everyone. They're looking to you to have all the answers, god. I just pray, lord, that you would continue to take that in order. I've stepped in the way that we ought to go. I pray in the name of Jesus, that, where it might be dark, god, that we would be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. God, that, whatever we are going through, we're not here alone. Father, that you would just have your way. Have your way in them with this word, god, that you bring forth revelation, open up our eyes and our ears. We can see it and we can hear it. We can receive it. What it revelation? Open up our eyes and our ears. We can see it and we can hear it. We can receive it. What it is that you desire to give to us, father, we love you so very much and so thankful. We pray that this prayer is pleasing in your sight. I pray, god, that you would just have your way here. In jesus christ name, we do pray. Amen, amen and amen, amen, amen, hallelujah. All right, y'all, we're not going to waste any time.
Speaker 1:We left off on last week's Thursday talking about the curse, the falling of man, amen, and how they just really they were disobedient and how one man's disobedience caused the whole world to sin, hallelujah. And so here we are, um, in the beginning, talking about how all of this got started. Amen, and we're going to pick up with. I said we would start at 21, we'll kind of go back to verse 17, so we got a mental picture again of where we left off. And so it says and unto Adam, he said Again Genesis 3, verse 17.
Speaker 1:And unto Adam, he said Again Genesis 3, verse 17. And unto Adam, he said Because thou hast hearkened Unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten of the tree Of which I commanded thee Saying thou shalt not eat of it. Cursed is the ground for thy sake and sorrow shalt thou eat of it All the days of thy life. Life thorns also, and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field. Amen, uh, look.
Speaker 1:And God gave us a different perspective on Thursday. But here's another perspective. When we look at these two particular verses, we can see that God, he was almost out of His foot to Adam because he knew better, he absolutely knew better, but he did it anyhow. And he says to him he says now see now, everything was. You know, everything was was easy, yeah, that all they had to do was say it and it was probably I'm sure it was there based on the context and the reading they didn't have to struggle for anything. Well, here 17 says look, look, you're still going to eat, but you're going to have a hard time getting it. Amen. He said you know, you're going to not only have a hard time getting it, but in it you're going to have things that poke you and stick you and threaten you, and you know all of these things.
Speaker 1:He says thou shalt eat the herb of the field. You know it's supposed to be a given. I mean, when you look at this language, it's like the provision that we need it was a given to them. They had to work hard for it, it was something because they were connected to him. You know, it just wasn't hard, it wasn't difficult.
Speaker 1:And we sit and we wonder, well, why is this life so hard sometimes? Why is it so hard to you know to even put food on your table? Why is it a struggle to you know to even put food on your table? Why is it a struggle to do anything? And the answer becomes this of this. This is the curse that has been put on man. What should have been easy and what was easy because of disobedience, it made it. It made it difficult to accomplish, not that it wouldn't be accomplished, but it made it difficult. Amen, it made it difficult. And you have to think about it. It's like what have I made difficult? You know, what have I done in disobedience that has made my life harder than it has to be?
Speaker 1:Now, the reality of this is that this is how you know in the beginning, man failed, and like this has. Really, because he failed, because he was cursed, it became the standard, amen. It became the standard of how we live. Amen, it became the standard of how we live. Amen. And what the lesson here is that without him, when you are separated from him, you're not connected to the vibes of the source, you're not connected to him. The ground that you walk on will be cursed. Amen, hallelujah. I mean the reality we already have. We already are born into this world sinners because of the fall. Amen. We're born into the world sinners and so it's going to be difficult anyhow. Amen, hallelujah. This is why you got to choose the tree of life, this is why you got to choose Jesus, so that your walk is not without him. Hallelujah, amen Again.
Speaker 1:It does not dismiss the struggle. The struggle comes because Adam and Eve, they failed. This is why we have a struggle anyhow, in the beginning, amen, look. He says to us verse 20, and Adam called oh, I'm sorry, no 19. He says in the sweat of thy face, shalt thou eat bread till thou return unto the ground, for out of it wast thou taken, for thus thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return, adam said, or Adam called his wife's name, eve, because she was the mother of all living. And unto Adam also and to his wife, did the Lord make? Did the Lord God make coats of skin, of skins, and clothed them? So God, did the Lord God make coats of skin and clothes them? So God himself, he made them clothes. Say, well, what did he make clothes out of? Well, I don't know, but he says he made him some covering. Amen, god.
Speaker 1:At the end of the day, even though they fail, he still provided. Amen. Don't ever get to the place where you think that God won't provide for you. Amen. Yes, it's hard, yes, it might be difficult, yes, it might be complicated, but he always provides for your every need. Amen, hallelujah. I'm going to say that again Don't ever think that God won't provide for you. God provided for Adam and Eve, even though they was disobedient. Amen, because the world wants to determine what you know, wants to set the standard for we, as believers, it's what we're supposed to do. The standard for we, as believers, it's what we're supposed to do, and bad part about it is we believe it. Amen.
Speaker 1:The world says, well, if you did this, this was gonna happen. You did this, you did this, you did this, you did that. You. You know you gonna do this. You know you got all of these thoughts and all of these ideas of what's going to happen based on logic, yeah.
Speaker 1:But spirit says, according to this particular section, and creation says even though you fail, I'm still going to provide for you Because they fail. He could have let them walk around naked. You know they was naked and they was ashamed Because now they knew that they was naked. And they was ashamed because now that they are now, they knew that they were naked. They had some understanding that, okay, now, hey, I'm naked, I shouldn't be this way, and so now I gotta be covered up. But when we came into this world. We came in naked. It's nothing to be ashamed of, amen. But but the buddy is. I'm still going to provide for you, I'm still going to make sure that you have what you need so that you are not ashamed, so that you are kept.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah To God, be the glory. Look at 22. He says, and the Lord God said Behold, the man is become as one of us to know good and evil. And now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live forever. He says, therefore, the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man and he placed at the east of the garden Excuse me y'all, I'm sorry, bless me Jesus. Okay, I'm going to read 24 again. So he drove out the man and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.
Speaker 1:So now that they have fallen, god has decided okay, y'all can't stay here. I have to put y'all somewhere else, except because if I don't, you will literally kill yourself, because now, now that you're exposed to sin you cannot. Ain't no way. It's, it's, it's you can't. It's almost like once you're exposed to it you can't not do it. Yeah, once you have, once you've got a taste of it, it's like hard to put it down. Do you understand what I'm saying? It's it's kind of like that when you think about 20, verse 22, and why he moved them out of the, out of eden, they he in a sense, was protecting them from themselves.
Speaker 1:Amen, you have to look at this as a good father protects his children. It's like you know, he will move us out of the place that will kill us. Amen, hallelujah. It's like he will allow that thing to bring us to the place of submission. At the same time, he can take that same thing and move us away from it and keep it from killing us. Amen, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:He said what did he say? He said the Lord God said Behold, the man is become as one of us. So now he has, he has a Awareness Of good and evil. Amen, he says to know good and evil. And now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live forever. You see, when I read that, that you're not gonna be wrong when I read that. It's like almost like. Is he saying we'll be like him? Yeah, well, we will be exactly like him. Now, in a sense, kind of sorter, because our soul never dies. Our soul will always live on.
Speaker 1:This is an interesting verse to me. Let me look at my commentary here. It says because of sin, people now knew good and evil Experimentally. Since the gift of life was directly tied to obedience, man's sin meant that the penalty of death must be enforced. Ironically, the Lord God sent Adam forth from the garden so that Adam would not reach, would not reach for the garden's fruit.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I mean, I don't know if y'all picked it up, that's what I pick up, you know, even saving them from themselves. I mean, it's like us and the Pringles, right, can't just have one. Yeah, and this is why he was protecting them. So when God move you and shift you, you gotta know that he's protecting you from the thing that can kill you, that can hurt you worse, even worse, amen. So something to ponder on, right, and I'm gonna stop right there and we're gonna pick up tomorrow at four.
Speaker 1:Hallelujah, y'all ready, let's go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy. Thank you, god, for allowing us to stay in this time, to be in your word. Thank you, god, for revelation. Thank you, god, for it's all that you're doing here. Father. I just pray that you'll continue to lead me, lead and guide my steps. Lead and guide all of our steps To do your will.
Speaker 1:I pray, in the name of Jesus, lord, that you would continue to make a way out of no way. I pray, god, that you would Touch that one that said pray for me. Many of us are in need of something and we just pray, god, that you would fulfill it as you said you would, as you promised that you would. You said you would supply all of our needs. Pray that you would do that for us. God, in the name of Jesus, pray for one, for the one who might need a healing touch over their physical body, one that might need a healing touch over their physical body, one that might need to be restored and renewed, revived. They need a real God and I just pray, god, you would do that for them. Let your will be done in their lives. Father, we bless your name as we bless your people. In Jesus Christ's name, we do pray. Amen, amen, amen, hallelujah, amen. Christ's name we do pray. Amen, amen and amen, hallelujah, amen.
Speaker 1:I thank you so much for your time and for your attention. I pray that this was a blessing to you. I pray that this brought forth a little bit more revelation, a little bit more understanding. I pray that you'll come back on tomorrow as we go forth in chapter four to see how far we get in this great book of genesis amen, because it I mean it's getting ready to get live amen, talking about the first murder and jealousy and envy and how that pans out. So make sure you tune in on tomorrow as you get into chapter four of uh of this book, genesis amen. Y'all have a blessed day. So much love from me to you. We'll see you on the next time. Amen, amen. Have a great day and a great night. We'll talk to you. We'll see you. So much love.
