God's Diamonds In The Ruff Podcast
#167 LTLT S5 EP 41: Genesis 3:1-6: The Fall of Man and the Battle Against Temptation
What if a simple question could unravel your faith? Join us today on Learning to Live in Truth as we explore the timeless story of Adam and Eve in Genesis chapter 3. We start by reflecting on the cunning nature of the serpent and how its deceptive words led Eve to question God's command. This episode isn't just a recount of biblical events—it's a mirror reflecting our own struggles with doubt and deception. We'll uncover how staying rooted in Jesus' word and maintaining a strong prayer life can help us discern truth from lies in our daily lives.
In the second part of our journey, we take a deep look at the themes of temptation and vulnerability. Even the strongest believers can fall prey to temptation, often through their closest relationships. We'll discuss the dynamics between men and women, the intrinsic strength given to men to lead, and how understanding our vulnerabilities can help us avoid falling into the enemy's traps. Our conversation underscores the importance of recognizing the ways God provides us the means to escape temptation, allowing us to stand firm in our faith. Equip yourself with these insights and fortify your spiritual defenses against the subtle snares of the enemy.

Hello, hello, and welcome back to Learning to Live in Truth. So glad to be before you one more time. Yes, one more time. Amen. Today is a day that has been given to us and not promised. Amen. How many of you believe that? Amen? I hope you believe it and know it. Amen. How many of you believe that? Amen, I hope you believe it and know it. Amen. Today was not promised to not one of us. Amen, and unfortunately, somebody went home today. Amen.
Speaker 1:The unfortunate part is that somebody didn't make it to glory, hallelujah. Somebody made it to hell. That ain't good at all, hallelujah. So make it your business. Let somebody know about the goodness of jesus. Praise, hallelujah. So I ain't wasting no time.
Speaker 1:We're gonna get into it. You know why you're here, amen, getting into the word of god. So let's go. Father, we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy. Thank you, god, for allowing us to stay in this time. God, to get into your word. Pray, god, that you open up our eyes, open up our ears, that we might be able to see and hear what it is you have to say. I pray in the name of Jesus. We pray a fresh anointing among every diamond that is here. I pray in the name of Jesus that your will will be done, but we turn this time over to you. In Jesus Christ's name, I do pray, amen, amen and amen, hallelujah. I'm not wasting no time, y'all, hallelujah, amen. We're going to jump right into it.
Speaker 1:So we just finished chapter two, talked about the first marriage, talked about adam and the creation of eve and all of that good stuff. Now we are moving on to chapter three. We're gonna dig into, uh, like everybody loves this part of the bible. I mean, we hear about the serpent and how Eve fell, adam fell and all of that. People love the story, amen. And so let us look at it look closer, see what else the Lord has to say outside of what we already know. Come on, somebody, make sure you got your Bibles. If you're riding along, make sure you got your ears open to hear what thus says the lord amen.
Speaker 1:So chapter three of genesis says he says, starts out verse one. Now, the serpent was more substantial than any beast of the field, which of which the lord god had made uh. And he said unto the woman Yea hath. God said ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden. Amen.
Speaker 1:Some said it was about say clever, yeah, he was very smart, very slick, very cunning, charismatic, all of that. Yeah, this is the identity of the serpent. You hear me Slick, charismatic, just you know, got all the right answers and, just you know, knows it all. He got all the answers, yeah, yeah, yeah, those are serpents that kind of creep around in that life. Try to, you know, try to convince us that, hey, let's do this over here, and you know it ain't right. And come on, let's do that over there. I know I don't need to be over there.
Speaker 1:Makes us look, make us think, make us question, make us doubt Whatever God has told us. Come on I know I ain't the only one. Y'all heard me Amen. Make us doubt, question what God said to be true. Hallelujah, gotta. Stay near and dear to him. I'm telling you you got to stay close to Jesus, amen. You got to stay in your word, amen. So you will be able to recognize the lie when it comes, because you know the truth. Amen. The enemy is playing with what you don't know. He's using it to his advantage. So I, I sincerely tell you this stay close to jesus, amen. The closest way we get to jesus is two ways his word and having a prayer life, amen, hallelujah, receive it. Now, that was a nugget for somebody. Receive that nugget. Nugget in the name of jesus, going on. So he asked the question did he really say that you couldn't eat up every single tree in the garden? But you know, obviously, um, the woman looks around like what? Like oh boy, it's kind of like, well, what you mean? Yeah, you had a moment where you just something comes to you all of a sudden, somebody says, I mean, you say they're kind of like what? Wait a minute, what are you talking about? Yeah, it begins to peak interest, right? So, he says. The woman said unto the serpent, we may eat of the fruit, of the fruit of the trees, of the garden, he said, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, god have said you shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest ye die. So she rehearses, or tells the serpent what god has told them amen. Well, god told us to eat of all the fruit, but we can't eat of that one. We ain't supposed to eat that, because you know, we don't die if we do that. And it's like one of those things where we know, you know God has said something to us and we say, well, I know we ain't supposed to do that, because this, this, this, this, you know X, y, z, whatever have you, because it's this, that and the other. We know it. We already know the consequence of messing with something that God. Come on your parents, come on somebody, your balls. Somebody told you don't mess with this, because this is what will happen if you do. Yeah, and we kind of look at it like yeah.
Speaker 1:So he says four, and the serpent said unto the woman you shall not surely die. He's like what you mean? You ain't gonna die? You really believe that you ain't gonna die? Come on, you got somebody in your life that's kind of like man. You don't believe that, do you? That ain't gonna really happen. Yeah, even you yourself convince yourself that ain't gonna really happen, that ain't gonna hurt nothing. Come on just a little bit. That ain't gonna hurt. Have it up. That ain't gonna hurt nothing. Come on just a little bit. Ain't gonna hurt. Ain't gonna hurt a thing. Yeah, familiar, right.
Speaker 1:He says verse five, for god, do it know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be open and ye shall be a woman and ye shall be as gods knowing good and evil. Caveat of verse 5. He says he says God trying to keep something from you. Basically, he says God keeping something from you, man, don't you know that if you eat this, if you go and you mess with that, you're going to be able to see better. You're going to be able to see clear, you're going to be able to see everything. You're going to be like him. You're going to know all things. You're going to have all the answers. Come on, man, how you ever had best? You all the answers. Come on, man, how you ever had? That's your peer pressure. Peer pressure for your tail. You heard, hello somebody, peer pressure.
Speaker 1:They say come on, man, ain't gonna hurt nothing. Come on, come on, they say all of this. And they say that to convince you of what you know what they saying. I ought not do that, but I am a bit curious. Come on, we all guilty, amen. We get a little guilty about wanting to try that thing.
Speaker 1:I've already been told it might hurt me, it might harm me, it might do this and it might do that, it might do that. But then you have that other voice that says I don't know it look good, it feel good. Oh yeah, it's like being in a relationship with somebody that you already know he a dog. You already know that she, she ain't keeping her, her keeping herself, just for you. You already know, but you say, can change them. Oh, they ain't going to do that to me. You already know the lifestyle that they live, you already know how they move and how they roll, but you get this or something comes over you and say wait a minute. Something comes over you and say wait a minute. Well, you begin to compromise, begin to look at it differently.
Speaker 1:Now, another thing that I caught that was interesting about this particular verse. He said then your eyes were open, your eyes will be open. How did they know that they weren't? Come on, how did Adam and Eve or Eve know that her eyes weren't open? Do you understand what I'm saying? The enemy knows how to deposit little questions in your mind, in your heart, that will say, well, maybe, oh well, wait a minute. Well, what if? What? You know, and when we begin to entertain the questions, this is when we begin to walk out of the will of God, this is when we begin to do our own thing, amen.
Speaker 1:Look at verse 6. He said and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and it was pleasure to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave it also her husband with her, and he did eat. So verse 6 gives us an indication that Adam wasn't far away. Yeah, adam was near and dear to her, he was right there with her. But the enemy came after Eve. First, amen Wonder. Why Could it be? Because Eve is Adam's weakness. You hear me?
Speaker 1:A good woman alongside of a good man, I'm telling you, if you got a woman, I wouldn't say a good woman, but you got a woman alongside a man. Look, a woman can do be dangerous to a man. I'm talking about male, and male and female. A woman can be dangerous to a man, excuse me. And even first vice versa another person that gets close to you, they can become your, they can become your bigger, biggest hindrance. Unfortunately, in a marriage, unfortunately, period in a marriage, unfortunately, period In a marriage relationship, god has brought the woman to be a help to the man, hallelujah.
Speaker 1:And so you, as the individual, you got to stay closest to him, and I'm talking about god. You got to stay close to god because I'm telling you, even based on the scripture, the enemy comes after one, after the one that is the weakest. Okay, because he already knows. Because you're weak in an area of your life, he can use that thing against you and create a footstone or foothold in your life. He's coming after wherever you are weak and I'm telling you, he comes back. He comes for even the strongest.
Speaker 1:Yeah, this race is not given for the swift or the strong. You heard me. He's coming after you. You're strong in the word. Hallelujah, you are, you know, you're mighty in the word. You're doing things for the kingdom. He's coming after you and he's coming wherever your weak is. Now he might not come after you directly, but he will come after those that will make you weak. You heard me, directly, but he will come after those that will make you weak.
Speaker 1:You heard me, the serpent came after Eve because he already knew she's his weakest link. Whatever she wants, he's going to do it. He's going to give it to her. He's going to do for her what nobody else will. So she is his weakness. What is your weakness today? Amen, because whatever your weakness is, this is where the enemy is coming. One of my great, great weaknesses, I believe that one of my greatest weaknesses is my husband, and so the enemy uses him against me at times, areas that would, uh, make me question him, amen, in different ways. Do you understand that he's coming for my husband? Probably 90 percent of the time, that's the the direction comes through my husband to get to, uh, to get to me. To do what? To distract me, to move me out of purpose, to make me forget what I'm supposed to be doing. You heard me. Hallelujah. So our greatest blessing can become our greatest weakness as well. Hallelujah. So keep your eyes open.
Speaker 1:Look at verse six again. He said the woman saw the tree. It was good for food. So I truly believe that he um went for. The lust of the eye talks about the lust of the eye and the pride of life. And the pride and the lust of the eyes in I think it's 1 John, I don't know exactly the verse, but it's in 1 John he talks about this is how we fall. Yeah, these are the three greatest things make us fall.
Speaker 1:And here he said she saw that the tree was good for food. So she forgot all about that. The first thing that got her was the fact that it looked good. You know we can eat with our eyes. Yeah, so it looked good.
Speaker 1:Then he says the tree. He says wait a minute, he said, and it was pleasant to the eye. So she knew she saw that it would satisfy a temporary need. Okay, folk do that with alcohol, people do that with drugs, they do that with sex, they do that with money. They say they see a temporary need and their eyes, it becomes a magnet, it draws them in. And then once you get in, then you start feeling the effects from that thing and it feels good, he said, and it was pleasant to the eyes.
Speaker 1:Oh man, that looked good, wait a minute. I never paid no attention to it before. It's been sitting there for years. It's been sitting there for days. It's been sitting there for days. I didn't even notice it. But all of a sudden something clicks in your mind and your heart and you're drawn to it. You see it and you're like whoa, what is that? Oh my God, that look good. Oh my God, it looks so good. Then she says, then it says and a tree to be desired to make one wise Wait. How is this thing going to benefit me. How can this thing make me forget what I'm supposed to be doing? Come on, this is then it says, and she took up the fruit, let me try it. I got to try it. Yeah, how many times do we try things? Based on how it looks, based on how it feels? She gave in to the temptation. She ate. And not only did she eat, she gave it to her husband, her husband, because he put his heart trust in her. No question, I'm going to eat it, you're you know.
Speaker 1:We live in a world where, you know, people take this verse and they say, oh, it's all his fault, this than the other. Well, he did come after the woman first, yeah, but the woman came out of the man. The man has been given enough strength to deny himself and deny his weakness. Come on, somebody. He's been given enough strength, but the only way that he can walk in a strength that doesn't come out of himself is if he stays close to the strength. Amen, god has given the man an innate ability to be able to stand, to be able to be the head and not the tail. It's been given to him. Hallelujah, amen.
Speaker 1:So that's that, you know, as far as the man and the woman had. A woman made the man fall. Oh, it's an age-old argument, yeah, and it keeps the body separated all day, every day. You heard me. It keeps my husbands and wives separated. It keeps a lot of things going that don't even have to be. Amen, hallelujah, it don't have to be. This is just the truth. This is the reason why she failed, and you gotta be aware of why you fall or how you can fall. If you understand the fundamental truth of how you fall to temptation, then when the temptation comes, you will take the way of escape versus falling into it. The choice is yours, amen. So I'm gonna stop right there, amen. And we're gonna pick up on tomorrow at verse seven. See how far the spirit takes us before we wrap it up for the weekend and we catch two more episodes of God's Diamonds in the Rough on Friday and Saturday Amen.
Speaker 1:So let's go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you so much for your grace and your mercy. Thank you, god, for allowing us this time in your word. Pray for every diamond that heard it was able to receive it. Pray. The blessings of the Lord be upon them. Whatever they might be struggling with, whatever the issue might be the circumstances are. Pray, god, that you would work it out for that good, for your glory. Father, we love you so very much, so very thankful, so grateful. We pray it, we ask it in jesus christ's name. We do pray.
Speaker 1:Amen, amen and amen, hallelujah again y'all, make sure y'all come on back with me as we dig and dive on a little further into this third chapter of genesis. I am so very grateful, so thankful, that you allow me to be able to teach, able to sow into your spirit, uh, and you know, in return, let me know how this is helping you. Anything, any questions, anything that you have a concern of, or whatever. Have you please reach out to me, let me know and I will do whatever I can do to help you. Amen, so so many blessings and so much love from me to you. Y'all have a great day and a great night. Amen, we'll see you on tomorrow. Blessings, so many blessings. We'll see you next time, amen.
